How does Botox work?

BOTOX is a sterile, lab-created purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the dynamic muscles and smooths the mimetic wrinkles.

The procedure

Aplication is painless and takes approximately 5-10 minutes after which the patient continues his/hers everyday routine. The action starts after the fourth day and the effect stabilizes after 15-20 days when a check appointment is made. The effect lasts about 4 – 6 months and the procedure is repeated afterwards. If you discontinue treatment, the lines gradually will look like they did before treatment .

Botox is not applied in pregnancy, breastfeeding mothers, patients with Myastenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, at instantaneous existence of viral or bacterial infection, therapy with aminoglicoside-type antibiotics.

Botox treatment should be carried out strictly by a medical specialist of excellent knowledge of the muscles anatomy and physiology (depresors and elevators) and trained for this procedure at specialized institutions. Especially, the treatments of lower part of the face should be performed by specialist with great experience.
